Guterres Assures Moon Jae-in of Continued U.N. Support for the Inter-Korean Peace Process


United Nations: The day before he addresses the UN General Assembly, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has met with HE. Mr. Moon Jae-in, President of the Republic of Korea.

Guterres, who considers the multilateralism as the "only medicine" to obstruct the "trust deficit disorder" the globe is leading today, commended the important commitments made during the latest inter-Korean summit and President Moon’s engagement in the process.

During their meeting, both Secretary-General Guterres and President Moon shared views about the upcoming steps towards sustainable peace and complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Guterres remarked the importance of cornerstones such as peace, dignity, and equal rights. In this context, the Secretary-General also gave his assurances on the support of the United Nations to President Moon’s efforts.

Guterres pointed out that the UN will never give up on its mission of peace and sustainable development. Also, he considered the steps forward achieved on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, one of the winds of hope blowing around the globe.
