Kamila Valieva is widely considered the favorite to win the women's individual gold medal. She failed a pre-Games drug test, putting her in line for a second gold medal. But she won't be able to attend the medal celebration in Beijing.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport determines that she does not need to be suspended indefinitely. If Elena Valieva of Russia finishes in the top three, the IOC will not award her any medals.
There will also be no medal ceremony for Russia's team event, which they won a week ago. Nathan Chen and the rest of the United States squad will leave without medals as a result of the decision.
