Mounting Pressures on Saudi Arabia Over the Disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi.

New York: The case of the disappearance of the Saudi journalist and dissident Jamal Khashoggi continues to transcends the borders from Istanbul and Riyadh to Dubai and Cairo, where the aircrafts carrying members of the security team suspected of killing and dismembering Khashoggi's body landed after hastily leaving Turkey.

Certainly, one of the most important of these stations is Washington, where Wednesday was a very busy day. President Donald Trump said he had made contacts at the highest levels in Saudi Arabia and he insists to know what had happened, this was followed by calls between National Security Adviser Ambassador. John Bolton and White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) and followed by a call by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who confirmed the request of the United States to obtain information and more details and that the Saudi government is transparent in the investigation process, and during the same day a senior intelligence official leaked a report that the US intelligence intercepted calls between high-level Saudi officials about their desire to kidnap the opposition journalist and return him to Saudi Arabia!

The Senate entered on the line at a rare moment of bipartisanship between the Republicans and Democrats and a group of more than 20 senators sent a letter to President Trump about the circumstances of this incident, prompting him to order an investigation into Khashoggi’s disappearance, later Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that if Saudi involvement in Khashoggi's disappearance and murder was proved, then there will be “hell to pay.”

Meanwhile European Union remains silent on the whole issue.
