About
Ahmed Fathi is an American international journalist of Egyptian origin he lived, worked and studied in North Africa, Europe and America. Ahmed is a resident United Nations Correspondent. He currently serves as Managing Editor of American Television News (ATN), where he leads editorial direction with a unique focus on multilingual reporting in all six official United Nations languages. His career spans television, radio, print, and digital media, with reporting assignments across the United States, Europe, South America, North Africa, and Asia.
Mr. Fathi’s journalistic work is centered on major global themes including multilateral diplomacy, peace and international security, SDG’s-sustainable development goals, disarmament, women’s rights and gender equality, U.N. reform, and U.S. foreign policy. Known for bridging high-level institutional reporting with accessible public discourse, he is regularly seen and heard and had appearances on international platforms such as CNN, BBC, MSNBC, France 24, Al Jazeera, Newsmax, CGTN, NHK Japan, Sky News Arabia, RAI5 Italy, and Voice of America. His bylines and broadcast segments have appeared in the Associated Press, RT, and various outlets throughout the Arab world and Latin America.
Fluent in Arabic, English, French, and Dutch—with conversational skills in Afrikaans—Mr. Fathi’s linguistic abilities have enabled him to operate across borders and cultures, and to report in diverse environments with depth and cultural fluency and many of his articles have translated and published in French, Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, and, Japanese.
Prior to journalism, he worked for over three decades in the international tourism and development sector, gaining regional expertise in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from Ain Shams University in Egypt and a postgraduate degree in International Management from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Fathi is the recipient of numerous honors, including the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award – Gold Medal from the White House, the UNPKFC Medal, and an honorary Doctorate in Political Science from the Universal Institute for Professional Management in Singapore. In addition to his role as President of the Royal Society of St. George – California Branch, he serves on the boards of the UNA-USA Coachella Valley Chapter and the St. Lazarus Foundation, and has previously held leadership roles including President of the Alliance of Egyptian Americans and Executive Board Member of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA).
